Mobili inaugurates in Bologna the area Nosadella.due, a residence for artists and critics, created by Elisa Del Prete and Lelio Aiello as a meeting venue, where productions closely related to contemporary culture may find expression.
As an anticipation of artists’ residence starting in Aprile 2007, Mobili refers to its two meanings, in its being an event composed both of an exhibition and a residence: the mobility of artists and curators invited in the Residence merges with the homely dimension where everything will tale place.
The exhibition, to be inaugurated as one of the collateral events of ArteFiera on January 26th and lasting till 11th February, will present installations of Flavio Favelli, Boaz Kaizman, Simon Moretti, Pantani-Surace, Reynolds/Jolley Vedovamazzei, designed for the premises of Nosadella.due, the house where the following residences will take place. Contamination taking place between art and housing space, which from walls to furnishing presents traces of its architectural and human history, intends stressing how everyday esthetics is becoming an increasingly relevant trait of contemporary culture.
The first guests of the residence will be, during ArteFiera, two young critics, Chris Sharp (USA), recently chosen as editor of “Flash Art International”, and Lupe Núñez-Fernández , independent curator and editor of the blog of Saatchi Gallery on London. Residences for curators, even more so than for artists, are quite rare in Italy, although representing precious experiences for studying, information and interaction. Nosadella.due intends starting an exchange aiming at bridging at least partially this gap, by starting a movement focusing the attention on local potential in order to make it visible abroad, as well as fostering ideas, work exchanges and suggestions.
The curators in the residence in January will be shown the local and Italian artistic milieu: besides visiting galleries attending ArteFiera and the building site of the new town museum MAMbo, they will visit the ateliers of local artists and will receive material concerning the most significant Italian productions.
Nosadella.due, house and atelier for artists and curators coming from abroad, has been created in order to respond to the trends towards cultural nomadism and to come into contact with a geographical, historical and social context, an artistic milieu, a system of new human and professional relations which can be long lasting.
Placed in the historical heart of the Bologna, in a flat of more than 200 sq m, Nosadella.due has been created thanks to the patronage of the Municipality and the Province of Bologna, Emilia-Romagna Region, Fine Art Academy of Bologna, and the Modern Art Gallery of Bologna; it is a totally new project for the town and a long-term project for the development of reciprocity between local, national and international settings via the participation and dialogue between public and private foreign institutions.
